The Elevate National Roadshow, a project-partnership between Impact Hub Manila and the Department of Information and Communications Technology as well other industry leaders, listed 5 cities outside Manila as its key stops. The Philippines has established itself as a leader in digital globalization for the past two decades. This made the country a hub for digital innovation. Despite this progress, entrepreneurship in the country is arguably still in its infancy with much of its activities concentrated in the mega cities.
With its goal as to empower the entrepreneur and startup community nationwide by decentralizing knowledge, building connections, and unlocking opportunities, the roadshow chose the cities of Dumaguete, Clark, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo to be its destinations.

Why these cities?
While the country has been enjoying its ranking as a leader in digital globalization mainly due to the proliferation and development of the BPO industry, current rankings have dropped the Philippines from high number of nine cities included in the top 100 down to five. Delisting former ranking cities such as Iloilo, Baguio, Dumaguete, and Metro Clark as cities top destination for outsourcing.
According to an assessment made by Tholons, the industry is deemed as “most susceptible to the digital onslaught and needs to have a sense of urgency to re-invent itself in this age of disruption.” In light of this, Impact Hub Manila and its partners recognize that the innovative industry have to diversify.
The Elevate National Roadshow’s goal is to help alleviate the problems identified by strengthening our local businesses by promoting an innovative culture. Thinking-out-of-box, diversification, disruption, digitization, and all-in-all preparing the talent pool and the mindset that the country has will help the industries and, in turn, the economy be more resilient.
