Statement of solidarity for Impact Hub Zagreb and the people of Croatia
Manila, Philippines– While the world is going through a health crisis, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Croatia yesterday. At least one child was in critical condition, and many others were injured as buildings and other structures collapsed.
The structural damages from the quake make it more difficult to mobilize goods and resources to help those affected by the coronavirus. About 205 buildings are severely damaged and people who lived there are being relocated to student dormitories. As of today, Croatia has at least 306 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and as the quake make it more challenging for the people to keep social distance, the new incident could aggravate the health situation.
Impact Hub has always stood firm on the principle of being “globally connected, locally rooted.” As our colleagues in Zagreb and the people of Croatia go through challenging times, we stand as one community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. What this global situation has shown us is the interconnectedness of our humanity, beyond religions, political views, gender, nationality or any divisive concept. As a community of entrepreneurs, innovators, and change makers, we believe that our resilience, grit, and empathy will get us through this battle.
